HotelVacancyNow™

Last-minute Travel Isn’t a Niche… It’s a Full Blown Market!

Reduce distribution costs

OTAs (Online Travel Agents like Expedia) heavily rely on the hotel industry for the bulk of their revenues.... Revenue “leaked” from the hotel industry to the OTAs in the form of abnormally high merchant commissions of 25% and higher reached $5.4 billion in 2010. This leakage must be stopped and reversed as it drains the hospitality industry’s bottom line and threatens the mere survival of the industry. The only viable option is to drastically reduce reliance on the OTA channel.  Max Starkov, Sept. 02, 2010.

  • If third party vendors can sell your rooms to a growing search oriented public, so can Hotels. Only better!
  • HotelVacancyNow is sponsored by the Hotels themselves, similar to Expedia-type sites, but without associated 25% commission costs and steep room discounts – via mobile and on-line search.
  • Never again will an unreserved walk-in (12% of your source of revenue) get turned away without a room reservation to the next nearest hotel and your hotel gets paid to help each other out.
  • Make more money, sell more rooms.
  • Any business taken back from online distributers contributes directly to your bottom line and ultimately improves your negotiating position with them.

Opportunities
– With HotelVacancyNow hotels can locate rooms during peak demand and refer one another’s last-minute available hotel rooms under sold-out conditions. Hotels will sell more rooms when other hotels are sold-out. The front desk can quickly solve overbooking situations because they can find more rooms in the area. The ability to overbook depends on local availability to walk guests if needed; now hotels will know how many rooms are left to sell. By matching local hotel supply with local demand at the hotel front desk level we automatically turn problems into an efficient money making and money saving machine via hotel to hotel reservations. Co-opition at it’s very best.

New source of hotel revenue – Sold-out hotels receive a commission every time the front desk reserves a room at another hotel, so even under sold-out conditions hotels will make more money. Commissions are paid by the receiving hotel (5%). Instead of losing room revenues to online travel agents (OTAs) like Expedia, hotels can take back control of their inventory and pricing by distributing rooms to us and each other.

Everyone Benefits - local businesses, retailers, convention bureaus and entertainment providers directly benefit from hotels helping travelers stay their city instead of being turned away and subsequently traveling to another city to find available lodging. And Convention and Visitors Bureaus want real-time hotel compset information so they don’t have to wait weeks to see how their promotional dollars affected their hotel members and community. Together, we can make it happen.
